I used to work in academia, where I was a tenured Professor of American History and Chair of the Swig Judaic Studies Program at the University of San Francisco. During my academic career I published JEWS AND THE AMERICAN SOUL and ADAPTING TO ABUNDANCE. After leaving academia, I took up playwriting, which is what I continue to do today. My plays have been produced (and won many awards) in NYC, L.A., Seattle, Austin, Denver, Miami, Orlando, Albuquerque and elsewhere. My work appears in several books published by the premier theater publisher Smith & Kraus: THE BEST 10-MINUTE PLAYS, 2011; BEST WOMEN'S STAGE MONOLOGUES, 2015; BEST WOMEN'S MONOLOGUES OF 2019; WHEN THE CIRCUS CAME TO TOWN. And my website has links to all my plays and books and many of my articles, and also contains a Blog for Writers. Here's the address: www.andrewheinze.com. Pay me a visit!
