Matthew Kennedy is an author and film historian based in Oakland, California. His most recent book, ON ELIZABETH TAYLOR: AN OPINIONATED GUIDE, looks at the entire career of the great movie star. Each of her films is highlighted in a separate essay, with their merits (or lack of) discussed in illuminating detail. ROADSHOW! THE FALL OF FILM MUSICALS IN THE 1960s, traces the neglected cinema history of that era's tune-filled big-budget dinosaurs such as CAMELOT and PAINT YOUR WAGON. His other three books are biographies of notables in Hollywood history: actress MARIE DRESSLER, director-screenwriter EDMUND GOULDING, and actress JOAN BLONDELL.
