Suzaan Boettger

关于作者

Suzaan Boettger's ("Suzanne BETger") writing and public speaking are praised for accessible fluidity, attention to illustrative detail, psychological acuity, and wit. All of these are evident in her latest book "Inside the Spiral: The Passions of Robert Smithson," which considerably expands his career beyond his fame for the magisterial "Spiral Jetty." Enabled by years of investigative art history during which her biographical contextualization of this major American artist's visual and verbal work became his first biography, "Inside the Spiral" radically alters Smithson's personal, professional, and sexual identities. Dr. Boettger is an art historian, critic and lecturer based in New York City and Professor Emerita at Bergen Community College, New Jersey. She is the author of "Earthworks: Art and the Landscape of the Sixties" (2002) and "Nedko Solakov: Ninety-Nine Fears," (2008). Beginning in the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1970s, she has contributed to eighteen book anthologies and exhibition catalogues and published in diverse scholarly and journalistic periodicals. The College Art Association awarded "Inside the Spiral" a Milliard Meiss Publication Grant and she won the Boston Psychoanalytic Society’s Silberger Prize for a pre-publication essay drawn from it.
