Joseph H. Friedman, MD , Peace Corps Volunteer (1969-71), has a BA from the University of Chicago, MA in mathematics from Washington University and an MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his neurology residency at the Neurological Institute of New York and has been at Brown University since 1982. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Neurological Association, professor and chief, division of movement disorders in the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He has been clinical director of the American PD Association Information and Referral Center in Rhode Island since 1984. He has been a member of the Parkinson Study Group since its inception. He has authored or co-authored over 200 peer reviewed articles and published several hundred other articles and chapters. He has provided peer review for 80 national and international medical journals. He has been editor in chief of RI Medical Journal since 1999, and serves on the editorial board of Parkinsonism and Related Disorders. He is a frequent speaker at PD support group meetings around the country.
