John Belton

John Belton teaches film at Rutgers University and is the author of five books, including Widescreen Cinema, winner of the 1993 Kraszna Krausz prize for books on the moving image, and American Cinema/American Culture. He edits a series of books on film and culture for Columbia University Press (1989-on), is a former member of the National Film Preservation Board (1989-96), and former Chair of the Archival Papers and Historical Committee of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (1985-96). He is an associate editor of SMPTE’s Motion Imaging Journal.
