Larry M. Bartels is University Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Law and May Werthan Shayne Chair of Public Policy and Social Science at Vanderbilt University. He has published dozens of influential scholarly articles and books on public opinion, electoral politics, political representation, and public policy. He has also written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Salon, and other popular media outlets. Bartels is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the American Academy of Political and Social Science, and the American Philosophical Society. His work has been supported by the Russell Sage Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and the National Science Foundation, among others. Before joining the Vanderbilt faculty in 2011, he taught at Princeton University and at the University of Rochester.
