Mark D. Williams has published hundreds of articles and photos the last thirty years in magazines, newspapers, online publications including Texas Sporting Journal, Backpacker, Men's Health, Dallas Morning News, Cowboys and Indians, Southwest Fly Fishing, ESPN, Beckett’s, SPORT, Gorp.com, Outdoorsite.com, Texas Fish and Game, Baseball Digest, Inside Sports, Amarillo Globe News and many more. He has been the fishing expert for Tibesti.com and Away/Gorp.com to name a few. Williams writes about travel, sports, fantasy sports, outdoors, weather, fly fishing and more. Williams has published 20 books including the top selling tome on the best places to fish around the world --- So Many Fish So Little Time: The 1001 Best Places on Earth to Fish from Harper Collins. Other books include Trout Fishing Sourcebook, The Backpacking Flyfisher, Flyfishing Southwestern Colorado, Knots for Flyfishers and Freshwater Flyfishing Tips from the Pros (Fireside/Simon and Schuster. His latest two books are: Weather Disasters (Skyhorse Publishing) a guide to preparing, surviving and living after major weather disasters; and The Enchanted Circle Guidebook (Ingram / Graphic Arts Books), a guide to northern New Mexico's Enchanted Circle (both co-authored with wife Amy Becker Williams.) He and his wife Amy also wrote two travel books with Wayfinder Press (Top 30 Things to Do in Durango, Top 30 Things to Do in Telluride.) Williams wrote three books with W. Chad McPhail: Colorado Flyfishing: Where to Eat, Sleep and Fish (Johnson Books) Top 49 Trout Streams of Southern Colorado (University of New Mexico Press) and An Introduction to Flyfishing For Trout (Stonefly Press.) Williams is also an iPad/iPhone app author -- his app, Freshwater Flyfishing From the Pros has 250 tips and 1000 photos from all the big names in the sport and many from guys and gals in the trenches, the ones who guide folks daily. He has two other apps he produced as well. Williams has retired from teaching and has traveled the world but finds himself more and more fishing small streams in New Mexico and Colorado and working on his second novel. He is an award-winning teacher (Brock International Prize in Education Finalist 2013 among other awards) and taught high school Social Studies, Media, English and Speech at North Heights Alternative School in Amarillo Texas. He and his students wrote two books, Voices From the Heights and Paintings on the Walls. A third book with NHAS Students is now on Kindle, Voices and Paintings From the Heights.
