Viviane Schwarz

Viviane Schwarz is an author and illustrator best know for the boldly coloured lift-the-flap series beginning with "There are Cats in this Book". Several of her books were nominated for the Kate Greenaway medal. With Alexis Deacon, she has created several philosophical picture books most notable "I am Henry Finch" which won several awards, including the 2016 Little Rebels Award and the UK illustration nomination for the 2018 IBBY Honour List. With game designer Kevan Davis she created "Board Games to Invent and Play", published by Pavilion Books - a complete kit for anyone who wants to design their own board games with friends and family. Viviane was born in Germany and has been living and working in London since 2003. She teaches illustration with a focus on interactivity and game design at university level. Her books aim to encourage creativity in young readers and often include interactive and comic elements.
