Michael Pinedo is Julius Schlesinger Professor of Operations Management in the Stern School of Business at New York University. He was born in Curacao (the Dutch Antilles) and received his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, followed by a PhD Degree in Operations Research from University of California at Berkeley. He has taught since then at the Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Cientificas (IVIC) in Caracas (Venezuela), at Georgia Tech, Columbia University and New York University. His current research interests lie in planning and scheduling, and in operations in financial services. Michael lives in Brooklyn, is married to Paula, has three daughters, three sons-in-law, four granddaughters, and five grandsons. (The photo of the nine little ones on this page was taken in 2017.)
