Thomas L. Szabo, now a research professor in the biomedical engineering department of Boston University, has over forty-five years of acoustics research and development experience in government laboratory, industrial and academic settings. He is an internationally known expert in fields of diagnostic ultrasound imaging, medical imaging, tissue characterization, ultrasound exposimetry, high intensity therapeutic ultrasound, surface acoustic wave signal processing devices, and ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation. Professor Szabo has authored over eighty papers including a textbook on diagnostic ultrasound imaging, twelve book chapters, and is co-holder of four patents.He is a leader of international and U.S. technical and standards committees on ultrasound.
