Jaco J. Hamman is an interdisciplinary scholar exploring the intersection of religion, psychology, and culture. Eight solo-authored books and numerous peer reviewed articles explore leadership, the archetypal nature of biblical narratives, humanity's relationship with technology, and play studies. He approaches these themes primarily through a psychodynamic, object relations theory lens. The thread linking all of Hamman's projects is the desire to cultivate thriving, just lives and communities. A native of South Africa, he has completed his studies in South Africa, at Princeton Theological Seminary, and at the Blanton-Peale Graduate Institute (New York City). He has lectured widely in the USA and internationally. Hamman co-founded Our Place Nashville (OPN) in 2014 with Vanderbilt University alumna, Ms. Carolyn Naifeh. The non-profit serves neurodiverse persons.
