D. E. Osto is the author of Paranormal States: Psychic Abilties in Buddhist Convert Communities (2024), Altered: A Biography of a Psychedelic Buddhist (2024), I AM GOD: Playing Shiva's Game (2024), An Indian Tantric Tradition and its Modern Global Revival: Contemporary Nondual Saivism (Routledge, 2020), Altered States: Buddhism and Psychedelic Spirituality in America (Columbia University Press, 2016), Modern Samkhya: Ancient Spirituality for the Contemporary Atheist (2016), East Asian Philosophy: A Brief Introduction (2017), and Power, Wealth and Women in Indian Mahayana Buddhism: The Gandavyuha-sutra (Routledge 2008). Dee's research interests include Mahayana Buddhism, Asian philosophies, South Asian religions, and American Buddhism, psychedelics, altered states of consciousness and gender studies. They also write fiction (The Rebirth of Sudhana Bodhisattva, The Enchanted Woods, and The Bodhisattva Chronicles), and translate Buddhist and Hindu texts.
