David Mason

David is a professional geologist who has also served as the official Club Historian at Rangers Football Club since 1986. The role has brought him into direct contact with many of the great former players, managers and other key characters who have shaped the club’s history. With his insatiable appetite to learn of times past at the club, David has taken the opportunity to engage with most over the years, enhancing his insight to this remarkable club. As a result, he is one of the most authoritative writers on Rangers, producing regular features for the club’s Matchday Programme and several books including Rangers: The Managers, A Match to Remember, Mr Struth: The Boss, which he co-authored, and the club's official 150th anniversary book - The Rangers Story. He also ghosted the Johnny Hubbard autobiography, The Penalty King. Besides his writing, David has appeared on television and radio deliberating on the many facets to the club. His interests have not been confined solely to the success that Rangers Football Club has achieved over the years, but the social context which provided the platform for the development of what he considers to be a quite unique club.
