Gerardo Bartolomé was born in Buenos Aires in 1962. In 2003 he led a six days long expedition navigating the Santa Cruz River (southern Patagonia) recreating Darwin and Fitzroy's trip in the same place in 1834. After that he started to write a historical novel about Darwin and his theory of Evolution which was published in 2005 ("La traición de Darwin"). As part of the investigation for his book, Bartolomé also travelled to other important "Darwin historical sites" such as Punta Alta (near de argentine city of Bahia Blanca), Galápagos (Ecuador), Chiloe (Chile) and the Uspallata pass on the Andes, among others. In 2007 he published, along with Sergio Zagier, Amanda and Barry Glickman, Patagonia through the eyes of Darwin", mainly a visual book with observations taken from Darwin's texts which explains the geology, flora, fauna, anthropology and history of this once mysterious region. In 2008 he published another historical novel "El límite de las mentiras", this one about Perito Moreno a famous argentine politician and adventurer. In 2010 his first book was translated to English ("Darwin's Betrayal") and French (La Trahison de Darwin") and, together with the Spanish version,were published as E-books for Kindle. Also in 201o he published a short story book called "Patagonia a sangre fría" not yet translated to English. Gerardo Bartolomé is now preparing a historical novel about the Indians of the Argentine Pampas.
