Ana Maria Gonçalves

Ana Maria Gonçalves was born in Ibiá, Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 1970. She worked in advertising until 2001 before becoming a full-time writer. She published the novels Ao lado e à margem do que sentes por mim (Beside and at the Edge of What You Feel for Me)and Um defeito de cor (A color defect), winner of the Casa de las Américas Prize for best book in 2007. She's been living in New Orleans - LA since 2007 and has been as a writer-in-residence at Tulane University, Stanford and Middlebury College.
