Harriet L. Schwartz, PhD, is professor of relational practice and higher education in Antioch University's PhD in Leadership and Change program. She also serves as Lead Scholar for Education as Relational Practice, for the International Center for Growth in Connection where she is also a member of the senior leadership team. Dr. Schwartz’s scholarly interests include teaching as relational practice, emotion and teaching, and qualitative research methods. Her work has been published in a number of journals including: Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and Mentoring & Tutoring: Partnership in Learning, and she has published in SAGE Research Methods Cases and the Handbook of Research Methods on Diversity Management, Equality and Inclusion at Work. In addition, she has published two New Directions for Teaching and Learning sourcebooks, co-editing Teaching and Emotion and editing Interpersonal Boundaries in Teaching and Learning. Dr. Schwartz earned her PhD in Leadership and Change from Antioch. She also holds an MS in counseling and a certificate in student personnel from Springfield College. Prior to joining the Antioch faculty, she taught at Carlow University.
