Larry J. Hughes is a scientist, artist, and writer with strong western USA roots, currently based in Memphis, Tennessee. His 45-year geophysics career has focused on mining and environmental investigations, resulting in numerous peer-reviewed publications, presentations at international conferences, and top awards for scientific innovation. A lifelong watercolor artist, he has been juried into over 70 watercolor exhibitions and has won numerous awards; had two solo art shows; and has been a speaker in numerous venues. Larry has been selected eight times as Artist in Residence at national parks, where he paints in the immersion of nature, advocates for resource preservation with Park visitors, and conducts painting classes for children.
