With over three decades in the magazine business as a publisher, writer, photographer, and editor, literally hundreds of features have been published in numerous automotive titles by awarded author Geoff Stunkard. Well-respected in his field and focusing primary on drag racing and musclecar history, his efforts have included unique treatises published on subjects as diverse as Lionel train layouts and neo-tropical rattlesnake taxonomy. Stunkard has also been noted for his work in historic racing preservation and maintains a substantial library of original film and image media, both his own and other artists' work. His privately-published hardbound automotive photo collections regularly sell for $150.00 and up in very short production runs (all under 200 copies; most under 10). In addition to photographic prints and digital media products, among his clients are various Detroit auto manufacturers, well-respected auction firms, museums, and aftermarket companies. During the past, Stunkard has authored one volume that was self-published by his own company, Quarter Milestones Publishing (www.quartermilestones.com) in 2004. The well-received 'Rail Mail: A Century of American Railroading on Picture Postcards,' reviewed favorably in TRAINS, Railfan & Railroad, and Postcard Collector magazines when released, this volume was sold through many historic railroad and transportation museums. In 2005, he co-authored 'Drag Sport Illustrators Pro Stock 1970' (out of print) for the late Dick Towers with fellow automotive journalist Al Kirschenbaum; a second volume was in layout when Towers succumbed to cancer. In 2015, CarTech released his largest effort to date, the 192-page HEMI: A History of Chrysler's Iconic V8 in Competition, created with assistance from the late Tom Hoover (Chrysler Racing Program Coordinator during the 1960s and 1970s) and awarded a medal by the prestigious International Automotive Media Competition in 2016. This was followed by a second CarTech title on the late Dick Landy, (LANDY'S DODGES: The Mopar Musclecars of 'Dandy' Dick Landy), a drag racer who was sponsored by the Dodge Division of Chrysler much of his career and a personal acquaintance of Stunkard's from his tenure editing Mopar Muscle magazine. The race vehicle theme continued with Plymouth Superbird in Detail, in the Cartech in Detail series. Most recently and likely to be the most successful of his efforts to date, he collaborated with the surviving factory racing team members to author "Chrysler's Motown Missile: Mopar's Secret Technology Program at the Dawn of Pro Stock," covering the drama of the 1970s decade from the eyes of those who lived it. This volume came out in May 2020 and topped Amazon's New Releases in three categories for almost two weeks, including Auto Racing, Classic Cars, and Automotive History. Stunkard and his wife live in the hills of eastern Tennessee, where he presents works as managing editor of Mopar Action magazine.
