SUSAN CAPERNA LLOYD (MFA, University of Oregon, Photography/Graphic Design) has been documenting cultural rituals through photography and film for 25 years.
caperna Lloyd’s book of text and photographs, NO PICTURES IN MY GRAVE: A Spiritual Journey in Sicily (Mercury House, San Francisco, 1992), documents a Good Friday procession in Sicily; her film, “Processione: A Spiritual Journey in Sicily,” won top awards at the American Film Festival, among others. Other films include “The Last Zapatista,” about the zapatista movement in Mexico, and “Between Two Worlds,” about a pilgrimage on Shikoku, Japan. Caperna Lloyd’s photographs have been exhibited at UCLA, Columbia College (Chicago), Valparaiso University, Meridian Gallery (San Francisco) and in Italy and the UK and are in private collections including the Oregon capitol.
