
Mervyn L. Hecht was educated at UCLA, University of Paris (Sorbonne) and Harvard Law School. During his 40 years of law practice, he advised national brokerage firms, individual investors, and interment advisors on investment strategies. Since retiring from his practice, he has parlayed his knowledge and storied career into various books. He began with sharing investing insights in the first edition of “How to Make Money with Stock Options--a Guide for the Conservative Investor” published in 1992, and now in its third edition. As a certified wine judge for the state of California and wine appreciation instructor for UCLA Extension Department, he was inspired to write the textbook on how to become “The Instant Wine Connoisseur”, first published in 1997, and now in its third edition. In 2010, he reflected on his law career with “Great Cases I Lost: Thirteen Legal Cases Which Taught Me Humility” later followed by “Hard Knocks: Hilarious Life Lessons of a Lawyer”. Mr. Hecht currently works for several companies that source and distribute food and wine products internationally and is a contributing restaurant critic for the Santa Monica Daily Press. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife, Dr. Elizabeth Hecht.
