Russell E. Gmirkin

关于作者

Russell Gmirkin is an independent researcher specializing in Greek sources used in the Hebrew Bible. In his 2006 book Berossus and Genesis, Gmirkin argued that the Books of Moses were written in Hebrew and Greek editions around 270 BCE by Jewish scholars using various sources found at the Great Library of Alexandria. In his 2017 book Plato and the Creation of the Hebrew Bible he identified Plato's Laws as an important source used for many of the laws of Moses, and argued that the very idea of the Jewish Bible came from Plato's Laws, which said a national library of theologically approved texts was essential for Plato's novel form of theocratic government. His current 2022 book Plato's Timaeus and the Biblical Creation Accounts shows that Plato's dialogue on the creation of the kosmos by a divine Craftsman or Creator and the creation of mortal life by his terrestrial sons and daughters was the basis for both the creation account of Genesis 1 and the story of Yahweh, one of the sons of God, in Genesis 2. Gmirkin is also known for his research on the Dead Sea Scrolls and other areas of ancient history.
