Christina Accomando

Christina Hsu Accomando is a professor of English and Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies (CRGS) at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. Her scholarship focuses on the law and literature of U.S. slavery and resistance, including the work of Harriet Jacobs, Sojourner Truth and Frederick Douglass, as well as contemporary issues of race, gender and U.S. law. She is the author of "The Regulations of Robbers": Legal Fictions of Slavery and Resistance (Ohio State University Press), and her essays have appeared in Still Seeking an Attitude: Critical Reflections on the Work of June Jordan (Lexington Books), the Norton Critical Edition of Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, and journals including MELUS, African American Review, Feminism & Psychology, and The Antioch Review. Accomando edited Scott Bentley's ALL AROUND NOISE: Studies in Framing, Synecdoche & Juxtaposition (Cariuna, 2014), and co-edited and wrote the introduction for the second edition of Tim'm West's RED DIRT REVIVAL: a poetic memoir in 6 breaths (Lulu Press, 2013). She is the contributing editor for the 11th edition of the widely used textbook RACE, CLASS, AND GENDER IN THE UNITED STATES: AN INTEGRATED STUDY (Worth, 2020).
