Joel Wapnick is professor emeritus, McGill University, where he taught undergraduate and graduate courses in music education and related fields. He is a Scrabble expert, and has written three books on how to play the game. The most recent of these is How to Play Scrabble Like a Champion (2010), published by Puzzlewright. Joel has won the Scrabble World Championship (1999), the North American Championship (1983), and the Canadian Championship twice (1998 and 2011). Joel has also written a memoir and a novel. My Lymphoma Year documents his diagnosis for Hodgkin lymphoma, the eight-month chemotherapy that followed, and its immediate aftermath. The View North From Liberal Cemetery is his first novel.
