Stephanie Buckhanon Crowder, scholar, author, and minister, received a Ph.D. in New Testament from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Crowder has contributed to numerous publications including True to Our Native Land: An African American New Testament Commentary, Soundings in Cultural Criticism and Matthew: Texts@Contexts. She wrote an article on womanist maternal thought for Semeia Studies: Biblical Mothers and Their Children, and addresses theology and social media in “Thinking Socially” from Thinking Theologically. She served on the Editorial Board of Feasting on the Gospels and ON Scripture, an online pop culture commentary featured on The Huffington Post. She addresses New Testament themes in R and B music in Afrocentric Interpretations of Jesus and the Gospel Traditions and examines the spiritual benefits of yoga in the Disciples Women magazine. Her latest book is When Momma Speaks: The Bible and Motherhood from a Womanist Perspective. She is a #womanistmomma of two sons who also dons many #sportsmomma hats.
