Pat Stockett Johnston has been a pastor's wife, an elementary school teacher, and a Church of the Nazarene career missionary for 34 years in the Middle East and Papua New Guinea. She received a BA in education from Point Loma Nazarene University and an MA in education from Los Angeles University, Los Angeles, and is an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene. She resides with her husband Gordon in Temple City, CA. A revised, self-published version of her book Mums the Word: Secrets to Growing Chrysanthemums for Home and show was released February 20, 2013. It shares about monthly tasks necessary to grow prize-winning show exhibition mums that she learned while growing mums for shows herself. The newest version includes more information on the use of fertilizers and pesticides. Johnston is the president of the Descanso Chrysanthemum Society, an officer of the National Chrysanthemum Society, and an accredited National Chrysanthemum Society judge. Johnston is multi-published, nonfiction author. Her stories have appeared in compilation books published by Chicken Soup for the Soul, Howard Books, Bethany House, and Thomas Nelson. Her articles have been published by Nazarene, Wesleyan, Salvation Army, Free Methodist, Mennonite, and Assemblies of God denominational magazines. Her column "Transformed" ran for 17 months in the Nazarene mission magazine World Mission. She is a an approved author for the online magazine Yahoo Voices, and has published over 90 articles on various subjects on that website. Johnston's sets of devotionals have been published in quarterly magazines by the Nazarenes, Wesleyans, and Standard Publishing. Other devotionals have been in The Upper Room and in devotional compilation books published by Zondervan, Tyndale House, Bethany House, and Revell. Johnston has written eight books for the Nazarene Missions International (NMI) missions education program. All were published by the Nazarene Publishing House.
