Susan S. Phillips

Susan S. Phillips has been executive director of New College Berkeley (an affiliate of Berkeley's Graduate Theological Union) since 1994. A U.C. Berkeley-trained sociologist as well as a spiritual director in private practice, she is keenly interested in how our lives are shaped by relationships, practices, and faith. How do our relationships of love and care form our character and moral comportment in the world? How do our regular habits and disciplines shape our friendships, marriages, communities, and the whole of our lives? How do we pray in the midst of time-stuffed, connection-saturated days? These interests are reflected in Susan's books and articles, retreat leading, and the spirituality courses she regularly teaches in seminaries and theological graduate schools.
