Van Allen Plexico is the only 3-time winner of Best Novel of the Year from the Pulp Factory Awards in Chicago. The awards came for his crime novel, VEGAS HEIST, in 2019; his superhero novel, SENTINELS: THE DARK CRUSADE, in 2017; and his space opera/Military SF novel, LEGION III: KINGS OF OBLIVION, in 2015. He also won the "Anthology of the Year" award for creating and editing PRIDE OF THE MOHICANS in 2015. He has twice been nominated for "Pulp Writer of the Year" and won "Best New Character" in the New Pulp Awards at PulpArk 2012. He is best known for his "Sentinels" superhero novel series, now 9 volumes; his "Shattering" space opera series, including LUCIAN; the near-future Military SF novel ALPHA/OMEGA; and the books he has co-authored about Marvel's AVENGERS and about Auburn University football history. He has also contributed stories to many popular anthologies from various publishers, including MONSTER ACES and SALVAGE CONQUEST. He has co-created and written the adventures of many classic and new pulp characters, including Sherlock Holmes, the Griffon, Mars McCoy (with Ron Fortier), John Blackthorn (with Ian Watson), and Gideon Cain: Demon Hunter (with Kurt Busiek). He has been published by most of the leading New Pulp publishers, including Airship 27, Pro Se Press, White Rocket, Theogony/Chris Kennedy Publishing, and others. He is also host of the White Rocket Podcast, an interview show discussing popular culture; the Avengers Assemble Podcast; On Her Majesty’s Secret Podcast, covering all things James Bond; and the very popular AU Wishbone, an Auburn football podcast. His books have been incorporated into reading programs for young people in libraries in several states. He lives in Illinois and serves as a Professor at Southwestern Illinois College.
