I am an associate professor of History and International Affairs at The George Washington University, focusing on the history of international relations, with special interest in early American foreign relations, US-German relations, paradiplomacy, and the Eisenhower administration. My third book, "Less than Victory: American Catholics and the Vietnam War," is forthcoming from Cambridge University Press. I am currently conducting research for a biography of Adlai E. Stevenson II, a former governor of my native Illinois (provisionally titled "Icon: A Life of Adlai Stevenson"); and for "Reason of States: The Foreign Relations of American Governors."
