Steven M. Penny, born in New Bern, North Carolina, is the author of 8 best-selling diagnostic medical sonography (ultrasound) textbooks. Two of his books have been International Best-Sellers, and all 8 have been National Best-Sellers. His latest book, which was published in 2022, is consistently ranked the #1 best-selling book in Ultrasonography on Amazon. This book is the 3rd edition of his exceedingly popular Abdomen and OBGYN registry review book. He published a pocket anatomy book for abdominal and small-part sonography in 2019. All 8 of his books have been ranked as #1 best sellers, and are continually among the highest-ranked books in Ultrasonography on Amazon. The second edition of his Introduction to Sonography and Patient Care book was published in March 2020. It is often regarded as the best introductory book (Doody's Core Title) to the sonography profession, and consequently, it has been adopted by sonography programs all over the United States. In addition, Mr. Penny is the author of 17 peer-reviewed medical journal articles, with topics including neurosonology, pediatric sonography, abdominal imaging, pathology, obstetrics, education, leadership, and patient care. His ultrasound registry review books have helped many individuals prepare for the diagnostic medical sonography certification examinations offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Steven is currently the Director of the Sonography Programs at Johnston Community College in Smithfield, North Carolina. He resides in Garner, North Carolina with his wife and two children.
