Suzanne Ferriss is professor emeritus of English at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Born in Toronto, Canada, she received her PhD in English from the University of Miami. She also studied at the School of Criticism and Theory at Dartmouth College. Her areas of research include Romantic and Modernist literature, literary criticism, gender theory, film and cultural studies, including "chick" culture. Her work on fashion and cultural studies led her into the emerging area of motorcycle studies. Most recently, she has been focused on film and visual studies. Her book The Cinema of Sofia Coppola: Fashion, Culture, Celebrity was published by Bloomsbury in February 2021. She edited The Bloomsbury Handbook to Sofia Coppola, which will be published in January 2023, and the BFI Film Classics volume on Lost in Translation, which will be out in March 2023, just in time to celebrate the film’s twentieth anniversary.
