The book "the Art of Motivation for Team Sports" is recommended for hockey, basketball, soccer, and lacrosse coaches. Jim Hinkson was born in Oshawa, Ontario. The son of a farmer he started playing hockey and rugby late in his life. In fact, he started playing lacrosse at the age of 19 and ended up playing for 12 years in which he went to 10 Canadian and professional Championships. Jim also played for Canada in 1974 in the World Field Lacrosse Championships in Australia. Jim also coached Whitby Junior "A Lacrosse team to 2 Canadian Championships, winning one. He ended up coaching professional lacrosse in Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey. He became a teacher in Toronto and taught and coached basketball for 38 years. Jim coached at the University of Syracuse Basketball Camp, University of Michigan Basketball Camp and Penn State Basketball Camp. He became an avid reader of coaching & motivation and read over 200 books on the subject. He has written 10 books on lacrosse and coaching. Jim is in the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the Oshawa Hall of Fame, and the Whitby Hall of fame. In 2012 Jim was presented the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.
