Robert Edwards is a writer and filmmaker based in New York City. He is the author of "Resisting the Right: How to Survive the Gathering Storm," a handbook for confronting right wing autocracy in America. Formerly he was an infantry and intelligence officer in the US Army, serving with a parachute infantry regiment in Iraq in the Persian Gulf war. He is a graduate of Lafayette College and the Masters Program in Documentary Film at Stanford and a winner of a Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He has written numerous screenplays for all the major studios, and wrote and directed the feature films "Land of the Blind" (2006) starring Ralph Fiennes and Donald Sutherland, and "When I Live My Life Over Again" (aka "One More Time") (2016) starring Christopher Walken and Amber Heard, and produced the documentaries "Sumo East and West" (2003) and "The Last Laugh" (2016) with his wife Ferne Pearlstein, both of which aired on PBS’s Independent Lens series, and co-directed the forthcoming documentary "Death and Taxes," with Justin Schein. He writes The King’s Necktie, a blog about politics.
