David Nolan is a multi award-winning British author, specialising in music and pop culture biographies, covering subjects from the Sex Pistols to Simon Cowell. His first novel Black Moss was published in 2018, a crime fiction thriller set during the Strangeways riot in Manchester in 1990. The follow up, The Mermaid’s Pool came out in 2020. The books have been dubbed ‘Manc Noir’. He's written biographies on Tony Wilson of Factory Records, Bernard Sumner of Joy Division/New Order, Damon Albarn of Blur, Ed Sheeran and many more. He's also written and produced documentaries on the Sex Pistols, Echo and the Bunnymen and The Smiths. He's won five prestigious Royal Television Society awards for his programme making. Nolan's first non-entertainment book was Tell The Truth And Shame The Devil in 2015, his account of the trial and imprisonment of Alan Morris - a teacher at his former school St Ambrose College - for historic abuse crimes. The book was serialised in the Daily Mail and was the basis for the BBC Radio Four documentary 'The Abuse Trial' broadcast in 2016. See less
