Jerry Jennings started his musical career by performing in bands and touring overseas. He later established a recording studio, Logic Surge Music where he currently writes for TV/film, and engineers and produces music by other artists, as well as his own compositions. He released his first of three instrumental jazz/rock/fusion CD's entitled "The Good Part of a Pencil," "Signs of Humanity," and the most recently released cd (produced by Ronnie Montrose), "Shortcut to the Center".
Jerry wrote his first book "The Guitarist's Link to Sight Reading" (#1 Guide to Understanding Studio Charts) out of pure necessity. In order to be hired as a studio musician, he needed to be fluent in reading charts. It wasn’t an easy task since there was nothing on the market written for established players that didn't have music reading skills. So Jerry took it upon himself to write one. After getting a distribution deal with a Music Sales, Inc, he decided to team up with one of Northern California's top bassists, Erik Kleven to write "The Bassist's Link to Sight Reading." He did this once more with Ken Ballinger for "The Drummer's Link to Sight Reading" all with the same concept — A book with audio examples, targeted toward the seasoned player who just needs a better understanding of reading music. Later he added more titles to the lineup: "Classic Rock Rudiments for Lead Guitar", "Guitar 1 Start Out Jammin'", "Triad Magic - An Introduction to Guitar Chord Theory". When his contract was up with Music Sales, Jerry decided to take on the publishing duties and utilize Amazon as the company’s main outlet.
Today Jerry is writing for two music publishers, is on call for several Steely Dan tribute bands, and is working on The Jennings Brothers’s first album. He continues to teach, record, write, produce, engineer, and perform at his church and other venues as well.
