Dr. Maria G. Dove is Professor in the School of Education and Human Services at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY where she teaches in the graduate education TESOL program and the Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership for Diverse Learning Communities. Having worked as an English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) teacher for over thirty years, she has provided instruction to English learners(ELs)in public school settings (Grades K-12) and in adult English language programs in the New York City area. During her years as an ESL specialist, she established co-teaching partnerships, planned instruction through collaborative practices, and conducted ESL co-taught lessons in mainstream classrooms with her fellow K-6 teachers. She serves as a mentor for student teachers, ESL teachers instructional coaches, and grade-level/content-area teachers on research-informed strategies for teaching English learners. She has published a number of books, articles, and book chapters on her research and experiences with organizational and instructional strategies for the education of ELs. She regularly offers professional development workshops regarding the instruction of English learners to school districts as well as at state and national conferences throughout the United States.
