Haakon Fossen

Dr. Haakon Fossen is Professor of Geology at the University of Bergen, Norway, where he focuses on structural geology and tectonics. In additional to his undergraduate and graduate (can.scient.) degrees from Bergen, he holds a PhD in structural geology from the University of Minnesota, USA. Fossen has experience from the oil and gas industry and works closely with scientists from several academic institutions, notably in Norway, UK, France, Brazil and the USA. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in international scientific journals and authored or co-authored a number of book chapters, books and e-learning modules on various aspects of geology. In his work, Fossen puts emphasize on field-based research with links to experimental and numerical modeling.
