Des McCabe is one of the leading experts on inclusion and personal development. In the early part of his career, Des founded TBG, which grew to become the largest independent training organization in the UK. When the company was sold in 1995, it was finding jobs for 5,000 long-term unemployed and helping 4,000 people to get qualifications every year. Des’s expertise in the field of job creation led to him becoming an advisor to the British, Irish, US, Argentinian, Romanian and Albanian governments on employment and inclusion. He received formal recognition as one of the leading job-creation entrepreneurs from Europe’s 500, Europe’s most prominent body of entrepreneurs. Des served as Chair of the European Union’s cross-border Interreg training group in Northern Ireland and as Chair of the EU Border Training Bureau. He was an advisor to the Irish and US Governments in the early stages of the Northern Ireland Peace Process and went on to design the Peace Builder training program with US Special Envoy Senator George Mitchell’s Northern Ireland Fund for Reconciliation. Beyond his professional achievements, Des established and raised funding for The Training Trust, an international charity set up to meet the humanitarian needs of children in Romanian orphanages. He has assisted with Comic Relief projects in Kenya and supported a range of anti-poverty initiatives in Ghana and Madagascar. In 2003 Des founded Diversiton as a social enterprise. Its Inclusion Calendar is used internationally by hundreds of organisations. The annual International Inclusion Awards and the Diversity Champion Awards are also administered by Diversiton. In 2011 Hay House published Des’s ground-breaking book, Work it Out!: How to Find the Work You Always Wanted in a Shifting Jobs Market, which led to the development of the Inverted Pyramid methodology. From 2014 the Irish Government, as well as numerous agencies and businesses worldwide, supported a wide range of Work it Out! initiatives to build inclusion and promote sustainability within local communities and workplaces. From 2019, Des became well-known for his experience in licensing, helping many colleagues to offer their training courses and services across the world. In 2020, Des began writing Personal Development Retreats, leading to the first series of Daily Deflections being published in 2023.
