Tim is a professor of communication at Biola University in La Mirada, California where he teaches classes in family communication, interpersonal communication, apologetics, gender, and conflict resolution. He completed a Ph.D. in communication theory at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2003) where his dissertation focused on helping couples move past marital gridlock--difficult issues in marriage that won't go away despite time and effort--by working through an original four-phase communication model. As a communication consultant, Tim's clients include senators, CEOs, motivational speakers, educators, and professional athletes. For the past 19 years he and his wife, Noreen, have been frequent speakers at FamilyLife Marriage Conferences. In addition to speaking Tim is an author whose books include, The God Conversation: Using Illustrations and Stories to Explain Your Faith (with J.P. Moreland), Authentic Communication: Christian Speech Engaging Culture, Marriage Forecasting: Changing the Climate of Your Relationship One Conversation at a Time, and the newly released, I Beg to Differ: Navigating Difficult Conversations with Truth and Love (all InterVarsity Press releases).
