Don Thorsen (b. 1955), Ph.D., is Professor of Theology and Chair of the Department of Theology and Ethics in the Graduate School of Theology at Azusa Pacific University. He has degrees from Stanford University (B.A., 1977), Asbury Theological Seminary (M.Div., 1980), Princeton Theological Seminary (Th.M., 1982), and Drew University (M.Phil., 1984; Ph.D., 1988). Thorsen is author of several books, including The Wesleyan Quadrilateral (Zondervan, 1990); Theological Resources for Ministry (Evangel, 1996); Inclusive Language Handbook (Wesleyan/Holiness Women's Clergy, 1998), co-authored with Vickie Becker; An Exploration of Christian Theology (Hendrickson, 2008); Everything You Know about Evangelicals Is Wrong, or Almost Everything (Baker, 2010), co-authored with Steve Wilkens; What Christians Believe about the Bible (Baker, 2012), co-authored with Keith Reeves; Calvin vs. Wesley: Bringing Belief in Line with Practice (Abingdon, 2013). Thorsen also edited The Holiness Manifesto (Eerdmans, 2008), with Kevin Mannoia; Heart and Life: Rediscovering Holy Living (Aldersgate, 2012), with Barry Callen; and Unity in Mission (Paulist, 2013), with Mitzi Budde. Thorsen is an Advisory Editor for the magazine Christianity Today, and he does ecumenical work with several organizations, including the Commission on Faith and Order, and Commission on Interfaith Relations, both affiliated with the National Council of Churches USA. He also serves in other academic and ecumenical societies, for example, the Society of Christian Theological Research Fellowship, Southern California Ecumenical Council, Word Made Fresh, and Wesleyan Theological Society.
