David Howard

Born in Mississippi, raised in Minnesota, and at times resident of New York, Paris, and Los Angeles, David Howard has explored the world finding stories and turning them into a career. As a professional screenwriter, he is the author or co-author of more than two dozen produced American and international film and television projects which have garnered a host of awards in the US and at festivals around the world. As a professional script doctor, he has consulted on scores of produced and often award-winning international film and television productions as well as countless others still in development. As an accomplished non-fiction writer, he is the author of two definitive books on screenwriting and storytelling from St. Martin’s Press which have been translated into eleven languages and are required reading at most of the world’s top film schools. As a renowned screenwriting teacher, he is a tenured full professor at the School of Cinematic Arts at USC, the top film school in the United States. In addition to founding the graduate screenwriting program at USC, he has been the creator and leader of scores of international workshops, seminars, lectures, and film programs. His former students fill the ranks of writers, directors, showrunners, and producers in American and international film and television and have won nearly every media award imaginable. Now, as a novelist, he writes books with strong characters, compelling plots, and enough drive to make readers keep turning pages as fast as they can. More novels will follow.
