Formerly a law enforcement officer (initially corrections, then policing, and as an academy ethics instructor) and a lay ecclesial minister (in campus, parish, and youth ministry), Tobias Winright currently is Professor of Moral Theology at Saint Patrick's Pontifical University in Maynooth Ireland. He is also an Associate Member of the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice, Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford. His prior academic appointments include Saint Louis University (2005-2022), where from 2014 to 2019 he held the Hubert Mäder Endowed Chair in Health Care Ethics at the Gnaegi Center for Health Care Ethics, Walsh University (2003-2005), and Simpson College (1998-2003). His Ph.D. in Christian Ethics/Moral Theology is from the University of Notre Dame, his M.Div. is from Duke University Divinity School, his B.A. in Political Science is from the University of South Florida-St. Petersburg, and his A.A. is from St. Petersburg Junior College. He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters in theological ethics addressing a wide range of issues, including: war and peace, policing and criminal justice, ecology and climate change, bioethics and health care ethics, and more. He has also written many book reviews for journals based in the US, Ireland, and in the UK, including CHRISTIAN CENTURY, NATIONAL CATHOLIC REPORTER, SOJOURNERS, AMERICA, COMMONWEAL, THE TABLET, IRISH THEOLOGICAL QUARTERLY, HORIZONS, JOURNAL OF THE SOCIETY OF CHRISTIAN ETHICS, JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS ETHICS, POLITICAL THEOLOGY, STUDIES IN CHRISTIAN ETHICS, JOURNAL OF MILITARY ETHICS, HEYTHROP JOURNAL, THEOLOGICAL STUDIES, and PRO ECCLESIA. He is an Associate Editor for HEALTH CARE ETHICS USA. He was co-editor of the JOURNAL OF THE SOCIETY OF CHRISTIAN ETHICS from 2012 to 2017. From 2010 to 2015 he also was book review editor for the journal POLITICAL THEOLOGY.
