Douglas (“Jake”) Jacobsen is an awarding-winning author and frequent campus speaker. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago and has had a long and distinguished career as both a professor and researcher. Jake divides his mental energy between two large areas of interest. The first is global Christianity, Having visited more than 75 countries, he has a wealth of personal experience to draw on as he describes Christianity in different cultures and contexts around the world. His latest publication in this arena is entitled What Is Christianity?, a short but comprehensive introduction to the incredible variety that now exists and has always existed within the world Christian movement. Jake also investigates and writes about the many different ways that religion and spirituality are present within and influence the experiences of both students and faculty in American higher education. Most of this work is undertaken in partnership with his wife and fellow scholar Rhonda Hustedt Jacobsen.
