Hermen Jan van Ree is an acknowledged workplace strategist and sustainability expert. He is a Senior Consultant at DHV Group, an international consultancy and engineering firm. Previously, he worked as Head of Corporate Services at the Investment Property Databank (a role he successfully combined with his PhD research at UCL), as a Senior Research Fellow at University College London, and as a researcher manager in both the Netherlands and the United States.
His main fields of expertise include strategy translation and operational alignment, quality management and performance measurement, and work practices and cultural change. Concerning the transfer of knowledge, he has published in a variety of national and international journals and magazines. Furthermore, he has presented at conferences in North America, Australia, South Africa, China, and throughout Europe.
He is a guest lecturer at University College London, a reviewer for Emerald journal Facilities and an active member of the British Institute of Facilities Management. Furthermore, he is a member of the BSi Committee for FM Standards and the Principal UK Expert to the European Committee for Standardisation. In 2008, Hermen Jan was named European FM Researcher of the Year and nominated for the CoreNet Innovation Award.
