Kathryn Bell McKenzie is a researcher, writer, and educational consultant. Prior to becoming a professor of educational leadership at Texas A&M University and California State University, she was a teacher, curriculum specialist, and principal. She is the author of several books and numerous articles and has an international reputation with both P-12 and university educators who have used her work on equity traps and equity audits to improve educational practices that advance equity and excellence. She lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico with her partner, J. Martyn Gunn, and their very large Pyrenees mix dog, Keegan. Drs. McKenzie and Gunn spent their professional time working with schools, researching, and writing and their play time hiking with Keegan, skiing, and enjoying their children and grandchildren.
