Seattle based Rob Casey is the author of "Paddling the Salish Sea 80 Trips" and "Stand Up Paddling Flat Water to Rivers and Surf" both for Mountaineers Books.

Rob has taught SUP (paddle board) and surf ski for his business Salmon Bay Paddle since 2010. He is also the co-founder and former director of (PSUPA) Professional Stand Up Paddle Association which trains and certifies SUP instructor certification worldwide.

Rob and his partner Christy started the Ballard Elks Monday night summer race series in 2012 and St Paddles Day at Alderbrook Resort. They have ran many other paddling races through the Salish Sea and are also co-founders of the Hobuck Hoedown.

He also is a photographer focusing on conservation and adventure and fine art.

In his free time he loves to surf freighter, tug, coastal and downwind surf throughout the Sound and Salish Sea with his surf ski.

2024 Book Update "Paddling the Salish Sea, 80 Trips"

In 2023, Rob began the 4th edition update for 'Kayaking Puget Sound and the San Juans". The book is now titled "Paddling the Salish Sea, 80 Trips".

The book is now in color and with an enlarged format and has 23 new trips, an improved Pre-trip section, updates to Tides/Currents and Resources and 5 new trips around Vancouver and Victoria BC, the BC Gulf Islands, the Olympic Peninsula and the San Juan Islands.

While this 2012 book is out of print, copies still available have timeless content for paddle boarders looking to learn river sup, tidal rapids paddling, surfing and touring.
