Mike Smith

MIKE SMITH was first exposed to good beer and beer culture as a high school exchange student in Germany. Mike was fascinated by the seemingly endless variety of interesting beer styles and interpretations and steeped himself in the art, craft, science, history, and lore of beer and brewing. After many years of award-winning home brewing, Mike secured a position as an apprentice at Waterloo Brewing, a brewpub in Austin, Texas and found his calling. He built on this experience with positions at the Harpoon Brewery in Boston, Mayflower Brewing in Plymouth, Massachusetts and as Head Brewer at Back East Brewing in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Over the last fifteen years he has worked in breweries both large and small and has been involved in all aspects of the brewing industry working his way from keg filler to lead brewer. He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
