关于作者

I was born and raised in Germany, and lived in the United States for over twenty years before returning to my homeland. My studies in these two countries have resulted in a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Literature, Women's Studies, Instructional Technology) and an M.A. in German. My experience in translation includes working as a freelance translator and editor for three decades. Commissioned by the New Yorker Publishing House Dover Publications, Inc., I selected and translated a collection of early to modern German crime stories, before that a collection of Bavarian folktales, prior to that a short story anthology, and initially two travel guides (German-English). Other interesting projects included the translation of a children's book, letters from the front (WWII) and various historical documents, including the transcription of audio tapes capturing the biography of a Russian German emigrant dating back to the early 20th century, and a story by the famously notorious "Scandalous Countess of Schwabing," Franziska Reventlow. I am currently researching a number of future translation and writing projects, among other things a second collection of German fairy tales and a memoir about the life of my father, an architect and designer who came of age during the dark ages in Germany, between 1933 and 1945. In my other life, as an educator, I have worked as a teacher/docent for German and English, instructional coach, and school/district administrator serving a wide range of students and in diverse educational settings (K-12, post-secondary, and adult ed). In my free time I like writing poetry and reading. Other favorite past-times include yoga and meditation, watching movies (foreign, film noir, sci-fi), hiking and traveling.
