Nicholas R. Bell is President and CEO of Glenbow Museum in Calgary, Alberta. He was previously Senior Vice President for Curatorial Affairs at Mystic Seaport Museum, the preeminent American maritime museum, in Connecticut. Prior to Mystic, Bell was the Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator-in-Charge at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC. He is author or editor of eleven books including monographs on J.M.W. Turner, James Castle, and Mary Mattingly, an exploration of how wonder directs museum experience, and several books on the role of craft in shaping contemporary life.
