Laura Venecia Rodriguez, MBA (George Washington University), MA (American University), BA (Wellesley College) grew up outside Philadelphia, PA, went to college in the Boston metropolitan area, and then worked and lived in Washington, DC/Silver Spring, Maryland for 44 years. After completing her Federal career as an international trade analyst and writer in 2020, Laura moved to Charleston, SC in 2021.
Now a certified ghostwriter and intuitive book coach, Laura loves sharing ancient and contemporary practices that help people over the age of 50 thrive in their body, mind, and spirit.
Laura, who considers herself the consummate klutz, first learned yoga at age 15 when it was just starting to spread in the United States. She has engaged in daily yoga practice for over 50 years. She claims that gentle, slow yoga can be practiced by virtually ANYONE who wants to feel and look their personal best, even after age 50. She says it is not necessary to do the complex, pretzel-like poses you see in many magazines and books or the super-intense forms of yoga often taught in studios or gyms, to benefit from this ancient practice.
Laura attributes her feeling fantastic virtually all the time and maintaining her college physique and weight to her healthful lifestyle, of which yoga is a major component. Gentle Yoga After 50 is an updated edition of her original book, Yoga at Home. The new edition is specially designed for people who are age 50 and over and have never done yoga or have previously given up on it.
