关于作者

I am Emeritus Professor of History at Birmingham-Southern College, adjunct history instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the curator at the Southern Museum of Flight in Birmingham, Alabama. I have written two major works on the history of terrorism. The first, Terrorism: A History, is a survey of the field that was hailed in The Naval War College Review as "the quintessential work on the subject" and praised by John A. Nagl, president of the Center for a New American Security, as "comprehensive [and] ... highly recommended." An expanded and thoroughly revised third edition of this book will be published in the US in 2024. The Routledge History of Terrorism, a 32-chapter reference volume that I edited, was published in 2015. Along with courses on the history of terrorism, I have taught classes on modern Russia and Europe at Birmingham-Southern, where I have won numerous teaching and research awards. I frequently speak on the history of terrorism to academic audiences, civic organizations, and the media. I have also taught a massive, open, online (MOOC) course on the history of terrorism on the Coursesites platform.
